Dr. Leonie Schmeller

Patent Engineer

Dr. Leonie Schmeller joins the Hertin & Partner team as a patent engineer. She is involved in the evaluation of invention disclosures, the drafting of patent applications, the enforcement of intellectual property rights, the evaluation of searches, as well as opposition and appeal proceedings.

With her mathematical and analytical understanding, her experience in developing numerical algorithms, and her knowledge in the fields of mechanics, optics, and mechanical engineering, she draws on diverse technical expertise.

Biography

Dr. Leonie Schmeller studied mathematics with a minor in physics at the Technical University of Berlin and at the University of Münster, combined with a research stay at the University of Vienna.

In her doctorate at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) in Berlin, she worked on dynamic models for physical systems and biological materials, with a particular focus on multiphase models and nonlinear elasticity. During her doctorate, she gained extensive insights into theoretical and applied physics in an interdisciplinary DFG priority program.

Dr. Leonie Schmeller's research has been characterized by close collaboration with experimental physicists, mathematicians and biologists and her results have been published in numerous scientific journals.
