Martin Behrndt provides comprehensive advice to companies, universities and research institutions on all aspects of patent, design and trademark law. Main areas of activity include the assessment of inventions, drafting of patent applications, development of filing strategies, development of international IP portfolios, freedom-to-operate analyses as well as the defense, enforcement and licensing of intellectual property rights.

Through interdisciplinary research activities and patent attorney work, Martin Behrndt has extensive expertise in the fields of mechanical engineering, physics, semiconductor technology, optics, diagnostic methods, microfluidics, sensor technology and software development, among others.

He is a lecturer at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for the course Industrial Property Protection Compact.

Biography

After studying physics at the Technical University of Dresden and research activities at the Institut Fresnel in Marseille and at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden, Martin Behrndt obtained his PhD near Vienna at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA). His research results have been published in renowned journals (Science, Nature, Optics Letters, Physical Reviews A, Biophysical Journal, Nature Cell Biology and others).

Martin Behrndt joined Hertin & Partner in 2015. He is admitted and authorized to represent clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG), the European Union Intellectual Property Office in Alicante (EUIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
