Hermann-Josef Omsels has been repeatedly recommended as an expert for Trademark and Competition Law by the JUVE Handbook of German Lawyers and as an expert for Intellectual Property by The LEGAL 500.
He teaches Copyright Law and Competition Law at the Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste/UdK) and Competition- and Trademark Law at the FORUM Institute for Management and at the German Lawyers Institute (Deutsches Anwaltsinstitut).
He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht/GRUR), of the German Society for Law and Computing Science (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Recht und Informatik/DGRI) and of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Proprieté Intellectuelle/AIPPI).

Hermann-Josef Omsels studied German Studies and Philosophy at the Universities of Wurzburg and Munster and Law at the Universities of Munster and Berlin. He received his Doctor Juris (PhD) in 2006 from the Humboldt University of Berlin.
